If The Venue Hosted Bobby & Connie’s Wedding Reception (From King of the Hill)

Like the millions of other folks around the world that are fans of the original King of the Hill series, we were excited to hear when a revival season was coming to Hulu, featuring all of our favorite characters, but set in modern day.

Seeing Bobby and Connie, all grown up, and reuniting in the revival got us wondering – what if Bobby and Connie finally got married? How would we host their wedding reception in a way that only The Venue can? And so begins another one of our wild and imaginative “what if” / alternate timeline segments.

Arlen Meets Martinsburg

Picture this: chandeliers sparkling over exposed brick, a dance floor alive with Texas charm, and in the middle of it all—Bobby Hill, grown into a chef with big-city chops, and Connie Souphanousinphone, brilliant and bold, walking down the aisle to seal a love story that started in Arlen, Texas.

The Venue was built for moments like this—where history meets heart, with just enough cheek to keep it fun.

Ceremony with Character

We’d set the stage with glowing uplighting against the brick, giving the whole place the warmth of a Texas sunset. Imagine Bobby quipping mid-vows (as he always does), earning one of those “Bwah!” reactions from Hank, while Connie—ever poised—keeps him on track. Peggy would dab her eyes, proud that Bobby finally stuck with something “worth putting in the newsletter.”

Custom Touches, Venue-Style

This wouldn’t be just any wedding. It would be their wedding—crafted with nods to Arlen lore and Bobby & Connie’s unique quirks:

  • Custom Order Beer: If the real-life Alamo beer from King of the Hill (https://alamobeer.com/) wasn’t available for us to order yet, we think that the Arlen gang would approve of Garage beer, one of our most popular brews. It’s hard to imagine what Alamo beer tastes like, but we’re guessing it’s light and low calorie just like Garage beer!
  • Bride and Groom Crafted Mixed Drinks: To along with Bobby’s German-Asian fusion style of cooking, we’d pitch Bobby and Connie on a number of fusion cocktails until we found the perfect match for their palates and personality. Perhaps a German gin, Yuzu juice, and Elderflower liqueur, with a splash of dry Riesling for effervescence– or maybe a mix of sake, pear schnapps, shiso, cucumber, and lime.
  • Propane-Powered Perfection: In honor of Hank Hill, our culinary team would fire up propane grills for a late-night snack station—smash burgers served on soft buns, proving propane does make everything taste better. (We can practically hear Hank’s approving “Yup.”)
  • “That’s My Purse!” Photobooth: A playful nod to one of Bobby’s most infamous lines (from Season 6), the photobooth would be stocked with oversized purses, foam bats, and speech bubble props. Guests could channel their inner Bobby for snapshots that’ll live on forever.
  • Laotian Dance Floor Flair: To honor Connie’s heritage, the reception could feature a traditional Lao music set woven between the band’s modern playlist—bridging cultures as seamlessly as their love story.
  • Kahn’s Whiskey Toast: We’d give Kahn (Connie’s Dad) the mic (dangerous, we know) for a quick toast—equal parts brag and heartfelt. For Minh, we’d have sleek craft cocktails that are as sharp and stylish as she is.
  • Cotton’s Cannon Salute (But Classy): We can’t forget about honoring Bobby’s grandfather Cotton. Instead of live ammo, we’d opt for a confetti cannon to mark Bobby & Connie’s big entrance—less risk, more sparkle, and just enough Cotton Hill energy to make Peggy nervous.

Reception That Feels Like Arlen (with a Martinsburg Glow-Up)

The playlist would balance Texas twang with modern beats—think “Yahoos and Triangles” remixed alongside dance-floor anthems. Dinner would be a nod to Bobby’s culinary career: Texas favorites with a modern fusion twist, proof that our chefs can handle a menu as layered as this couple’s story.

Making History Together

Bobby & Connie’s story has spanned crushes, breakups, family drama, and growing into who they were always meant to be. Hosting their wedding at The Venue would be about more than exposed brick and chandeliers—it would be about honoring where they came from, and celebrating where they’re going, with a party as timeless (and surprising) as their love.

Because here, we don’t just throw weddings. We make history—brick by brick. Looking for the perfect wedding reception venue? Give us a call at 304-519-3038, or contact us for a tour.
